Thread: iOS Cannot Read File

  1. #1

    iOS Cannot Read File

(the same problem on all my iOS devices)
A DOCX file, stored in Viivo Favourites produces:

    quote
    (title).docx
Office Open XML word processing document
    unquote

That's it: the file content is not shown.
    Other DOCX files show OK.
The raw (not encrypted) file opens just fine on all devices.

Does anyone have any idea as to why decryption on an iOS device might 'break' the ability of the file to open? Opening on a PC is just fine.
    Thanks!

    UPDATE
    OK, I have a solution:
    * The Word document has a table in it, plus some text below the table. This combination stops the decryption showing Ok
    * If I delete the text below the table, the document shows OK
    * If I delete the table, the document shows OK
!! It is the combination that Viivo on iOS cannot cope with!

    Hey RobinB,

It's not a decryption problem, its a preview limitation that you are running into. When you see the

The file is actually already decrypted at that point. Typically, Viivo will attempt to preview the file within the app. If it fails to generate the preview, it displays what you are seeing. We use a native previewer, so there isn't a lot of control we have on what can get previewed and what cannot, so the findings about tables is very interesting, but not something we can do much about.

What you can do is click the little folder icon in the top right corner and send the decrypted document to another app to view the document.

Thanks BUT the raw file (taken from the Windows Viivo Data folder) opens just fine in iOS. No problems. No way will iOS open the decrypted file from Viivo Favourites.

There is no icon top right when this occurs.

Im not sure what is happening on your device. It seems to work fine for me.

You can try to delete the app and re-login, or try to delete the favorites and re-add them?

Thanks. I have tried the app and favourite deletion. Interestingly, some Local Favourites (when I add them back after deletion, even if I shut down the app after deletion, then restart) are appended with the number 2.... ie 'title.docx-2.viivo'
